University work 2009-2014
During my university years, I was drawn to making work that involved transitions and transformations, often shifting into animals or more abstract entities such as the internet. I would create streams of footage in which I acted out these different roles and states of being, moving between identities through performance and video.
The work was connected to feminist ideas around returning to the wildness of womanhood, particularly inspired by themes explored in Women Who Run with the Wolves. Through performances and videos, I explored instinct, transformation, and the relationship between the body, nature, and mythology, using the camera as a way to inhabit and document these shifting identities.
About a year after university I became acutely unwell with a serious mental health condition and was unable to continue art work until 2019.
